“However carefully you look at an object, some of them remain baffling. Unfortunately some writers are reluctant to admit this, but actually it is better to be transparent. There is no harm in showing the boundaries of our knowledge. To do so dissolves the barrier between the ‘expert’ and the public, and engages the visitor in the debate that might exist about an object.”
